Petite Paper Bag Vase by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal

Paper or plastic or…Wirkkala’s fun and whimsical 1977 Pop Art take on tromp l’oeil, something that is not what it appears to be. Here, a used paper bag is actually a porcelain vase. Kraft paper brown with a serrated top edge, this bag vase is the largest of its production series. Perennially popular and reintroduced on the occasion of Wirkkala’s one hundredth birthday, this piece is vintage production marked Rosenthal Germany to its underside.
