As New York’s premier Mid-Century Modern Furniture specialists, WYETH is synonymous with luxury through design. Our inventory is hand selected and verified for authenticity.
Our selection of furniture, lighting, art and objects celebrates the fine and the extraordinary. Wyeth embraces vintage design, from museum-quality masterpieces to anonymous industrial object, in addition to the exclusive WYETH line of furniture and lighting, completely handcrafted in our Brooklyn workshop. The layout of our Tribeca showroom highlights the strong attention to detail that made our founder, John Birch, world renowned.
Mr. Birch has always had a passion for bringing together meaningful design across eras. As a young man, he came to New York City for its fast-paced energy and creative spirit. John’s start began in the display departments of Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. Craftsmanship is part of the foundational bedrock that makes New York City special. It is in the deeper covalence of inner meaning, in which John found his yearning for blending eternal nature, with timeless design.
WYETH was first crafted 20 years ago, with John’s wife and two brothers in a small TriBeCa studio. The notion was simple. Build a timeless showroom and share the experience of reviving quality furniture, into eternal masterpieces of true origin with the world.
The brand was created with vintage restoration in nature. As they cemented the foundation of what would one day become New York’s defacto source for modern furniture craft, John scoured the town for pickings. With his young son Wyeth often in carriage, they would find treasures from Brimfield, to the 26th street flea market in Chelsea. The artist of origin rarely mattered, so long as the design held up to their standards. It is with these values of quality and integrity, WYETH was created as the shop he would want to live in.
The WYETH Workshop continued the narrative of where they would go. From here, seeing the entire creative process through from concept to production became the new norm. Since then, our entire existence has built itself upon the notion of taking something beautiful, rolling up our sleeves and making it our own. The focus of design is the order in which brings us complete satisfaction, while sharing that experience with our phenomenal customers.
As the workshops gained traction, so did New Yorkers’ appreciation for quality design. Our studio expanded into a former printing plant on the booming western slope of Spring Street. In this new space, we matured and flourished, but our values remained constant. It wasn’t until 2009, when we expanded to eastern long island, did our story begin to feel complete. Perched on the side of grassy Montauk Highway in Sagaponack, NY, no trip to the Hamptons goes un noticed without seeing our rustic sign on display. The aurora of modernism blending with nature here, drives continued inspiration for us to indulge in craft. Nature here provides a whited blend of transformation in line with our workshop design. From changing leaves to caterpillars blossoming into gorgeous monarch butterflies, there is no stone left unturned in which can fuel our inspiration of crafted quality.
It is with great honor, that we share our world of both vintage and modern furniture design with you. Every detail is accounted for with both aesthetic and functional pleasure. I hope you enjoy our redesigned virtual storefront and come visit our iconic Sagaponack or redesigned TriBeCa showroom on Canal St. soon.
