Cocktail Table by Hans J. Wegner for Johannes Hansen
A medium height table with a reversible, shaped edge, rectangular top of solid teak set on a solid oak base. This unit is a custom, unmarked variation from production models 562 and 564 varying in width (shorter), depth (deeper), and height (higher). Possibly a prototype developed for a furniture fair to gauge potential interest as a future production model. As a one-off displayed in a Wegner booth the absence of a stamped signature makes sense. Engineered to be KD, the stretcher is connected to the sides with a specialty brass bolt threading in to a receiving nut concealed within the stretcher allowing for easy disassembly as well as easy tightening if necessary over prolonged use. Its unusual dimensions make it ideal for a sofa with a higher seat platform or as lamp or end table next to a sofa with uncommon dimensions.
