Lignum-Vitae Modernist Table Sculpture by Clark Fitz-Gerald
A unique, hand hewn sculpture of solid ironwood (lignum-vitae) mounted on a wedge shaped wooden plinth base via threaded rod. The sculpture is formed from a large, single section of lignum-vitae, the outermost exterior ring of sapwood being lighter in color standing in relief and partially carved away allowing contrasting and discernible ’sections’ which were then ‘chip-carved’ to provide texture to the hollowed sections.
